2008 Portland Pen Show (pg 3 of 3)

Okay, I promise this is the last page! Click on each picture for a larger (800x600) version.

Larry, Moe, and Curly. Beautiful, not-so-vintage pens at the Inkpen Vintage Ink Pens tables. More beautiful contemporary pens; not so beautiful a picture. Darned auto "never quite in" focus. Dave Smith tells Ken Schillinger that Grem needs to get a "real" camera if he wants good pen show pix.
The exhibitors take time to look over each others wares Sunday morning before the doors open to the public. From left to right, Garry Hart, Bernie Bauer, Stephen Miller, Ray Kuncz's wife, John Schwab, Stuart Hawkinson, Ray Kuncz, Larry, Sam Fiorella, and Frank Fiorella. Stuart and Bernie check Garry's lead for fit, while Stephen and Sam check out Ray's pens. You can just make out George Long with a real camera in the background. Rick "The PENguin" Propas contemplates buying a non-Pelikan from Mary Burke, the Conway Stewart rep. Mary Burke brought some beautiful modern pens by Conway Stewart, one of which is worth more than my entire inventory.
Dave Smith, Stephen Miller, and Kim Sosin smile briefly for the camera, then go back to intense haggling over a pen. The only thing fast enough to catch Carla Mortensen still during the show is a 1/60,000 second burst from an electronic flash. I distract Sherrell Tyree with the camera, while the customer slips a pen into her fannie pack. John Schwab is caught with pen porn--the latest Nakaya Fountain Pen catalog.
